Syllabus
We teach Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu (MJER) Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu in the Koryu (ancient) style which means there are no Kyu (coloured) or Dan (black) belts to attain nor are there any annual/periodic ‘gradings’. Instead, in line with the ancient methods, we monitor you as you train and recognition is awarded by Asano Sensei, Menkyo Kaiden, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu directly from Japan.

Iaijutsu is highly technical, requiring attention to detail, dedicated practice, and focus to master.
Classes are limited to small groups which allows us to oversee your progress, guide your development, and deliver training tailored to your level of ability.
We provide all the equipment you’ll need just bring water to drink. Classes last two hours.
They’ll be a warm-up and then we’ll take you through:
- a basic sword drill;
- some basic stances; and
- the first technique.
Because we use weapons it is paramount for everyones safety that all students train sensibly, are attentive, and follow all instructions given during the class, students deemed unsafe will be excluded from the class.
